
Nallikari Snow Fest brings together international snow sculptors in Nallikari
Nallikari Snow Fest snow sculpting event will take place in Nallikari from February 11 to 15, 2025. This audience-friendly event aims to increase awareness of snow sculpting as an art form. The goal is to create a visually stunning sculpture park in Nallikari, crafted by professional snow sculptors, which visitors can admire free of charge throughout the winter season. The theme of the sculptures is cool contrasts.
Oulu is attracting international interest among snow sculptors
By the deadline, the event organizers had received dozens of applications from professional sculptor teams worldwide. The participating professional teams were selected based on their submitted sketches. The sculpture park will feature both figurative and abstract sculptures.
Sculptor teams will arrive from eight different countries; from North America Canada and the United States, and from South America, Argentina. Representing Europe are the Czech Republic, Germany, the Netherlands, Estonia, and Finland.
Oulu and Nallikari are gaining global interest as snow sculpting destinations. Organizers have already received inquiries about next year's snow sculpting event, which is also part of Oulu's European capital of culture program.
Snow Art with Heart event brings together snow sculpting enthusiasts on Thursday, February 13
The sculptors will begin their creative work on Tuesday, February 11, at noon, and the snow sculptures are scheduled to be completed by Friday evening, February 14. Visitors will have the opportunity to follow the sculptors' work and the progress of the sculptures in Nallikari Winter Village on Thursday, from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM, and Friday, from 12:00 PM to 18:00 PM The evening lighting can be enjoyed from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
On Thursday, February 14, the professional snow sculpting teams will also be available for a meet-and-greet at the "Snow Art with Heart" event held at Restaurant Nallikari. During the event, insights into the world of snow sculpting will be shared by Juhani Lillberg, President of the International Snow and Ice Sculpture Association. The 30-minute event starts at 6:45 PM, and the free event is open to all snow sculpting enthusiasts.
The event will reach its climax with the sculpture lighting and closing ceremony on Friday, February 14
On Friday, once the sculpting is complete, the area will transform into a unique winter art park. The sculpture park will be illuminated on Friday and Saturday evenings from 6:30 PM to 10:00 AM.
From the closing ceremony onward, the area will turn into a unique winter art park, where visitors can enjoy world-class sculptures and unique audience-created artworks in Nallikari until the snow melts. The area is free to visit.
